Weight and Your Health
The link between your weight and your health is often not emphasized as much as it should be by our health care providers. In today's world where we are more conscious of our health than ever before, it is also important to remind ourselves of the basics of health. Being overweight or obese can be a cause or increase our risk for many illnesses and diseases. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in the United States, 73.6% of adults age 20 and older are overweight, including obesity. 41.9% of adults age 20 and older are obese. These statistics can also be correlated to the amount of heart disease and other organ diseases that occur so often in our country today.
Losing Weight is a topic that is talked about quite often nowadays, but discussing the way to lose weight is often overcomplicated or oversimplified. Sometimes online influencers on social media may push a complex diet system, with strict rules to follow to achieve a natural weight. From commercial advertising, it can be familiar to hear or see words like "miracle", "answer", or "secret". Although there are many different ways of losing weight, there are 3 important fundementals: diet, exercise, and sleep. Changing your lifestyle habits within these 3 categories can help you to lose weight, keep it off, and maintain a healthy body and mind.
